Christina Riesco started this petition to Comer childrens hospital and

Our daughter is at Colmer Children’s hospital. She is 21 months old and due to the one visitor policy we have to switch off. The rules are so strict that one can not even go upstairs to switch off with the other parent. We must go down to the lobby and leave my daughter for 2+ minutes crying alone in her room. This raises her stress levels and is not healthy for children. It takes upwards of 20-30min to calm her down after that scary switch. We are both wearing mask.

I believe that they should allow two parents to visit the child. They can enforce temperature taking, mask etc.

Alternatively, at least let parents switch on the same floor or in the same room to make the transition of switching easier.

We have had to run through halls and switch quickly. We can not even hug or say hi to each other as we switch during our stays because our baby is unattended alone and crying. As we navigate through all the doctors, news and test results we can not even truly be together as a family. This is the time we all need each other the most. Even if a nurse where to be with our 21 month old daughter they are still strangers to her. And she is locked in a crib that looks like a cage if you have ever seen a ped. Hospital crib. That is scary for her. Children are already dealing with the trauma of exams and labs etc.

Please help me petition to get this changed! Children should not be alone and separated from their parents during hospital stay.

In addition we waited hours for a transfer from previous hospital because of the new laws that would not allow anyone other than the patient to ride in the ambulance. That’s fine for adults but once again my daughter is 21 months old. After waiting 3+ hours our request to ride with her was accommodated.

I’m asking our mayor, governor, and president to do something about this and make sure parents can be with their children during their most sensitive times in the hospital. Spouses can help support each other through the process and be there together for their children.
