Why this petition matters

- 1. GEOGRAPHIC RESTRICTIONS
Technology has made a college education more accessible than ever before. You can access the entire educational world with a computer and Internet access, regardless of where you live, as long as you have Internet access. - When you consider that for the past few years, prestigious schools like Harvard, MIT, and Stanford and other local universities such as UWI have been offering full courses of study online for free through something called MOOCs, (which stands for massive open online course). MOOCs usually have the same professors and study materials as if you were attending a traditional university.
- 2 )Absenteeism and scheduling conflicts are virtually eliminated when students learn online. While some programmes may require attendance at online lectures at specific times, those lectures are usually archived for future use. Students can work through material at their own pace because online learning is more flexible than classroom-based learning. It is available to those who require additional time to comprehend a concept.
- Those who wish to work more quickly may do so. People who work full-time or have childcare responsibilities that would interfere with regular campus attendance will appreciate the schedule flexibility. Consider how a single mother whose babysitter cancelled at the last minute would be unable to continue with traditional education. She can still go to school because of online education.
- INCREASE IN WITHDRAWALS
- Many students have recently joined USC in the hopes that online options for courses that can provide that will be implemented.
Unfortunately, if online options are not available, we fear that USC may see an increase in withdrawals. We live in a technologically advanced global society in 2022. We would appreciate it if the online option was implemented in order to maintain USC's student count as well as to attract more students to the university in efforts of being an outstanding university.
