Build a Grocery Store in a Local Neighborhood

Gregory Madison started this petition to Columbus City Council and

All across the United States, there are hundreds, if not thousands of neighborhoods without a nearby grocery store or healthy food store. In Ohio, low-income areas are the most stricken.

This problem can be fixed by calling on Columbus City Council and legislature in the state of Ohio to build a grocery store in one of these food deserts in the city of Columbus, preferably the Linden Area, seeing that the Kroger that was there had shut down last year, and there is not a nearby grocery store for that entire community.

I started this petition because...
I am a senior at Cristo Rey Columbus High School, a local high school in downtown Columbus, Ohio. This petition is part of our Social justice unit, where we write an action plan on an injustice in our local community. I chose food deserts because it is an issue that doesn’t get a lot of media attention, and I feel like this petition will garner the respect of legislators to change this and get at least one grocery store in the Linden Area, possibly in the same lot that the previous grocery store, Kroger, was located.
