Blade Runner 2049 is a 2017 American neo-noir science fiction film directed by Canadian filmmaker Denis Villeneuve. It's the sequel to the iconic Ridley Scott directed film Blade Runner, which was originally scored by revered Greek composer Vangelis. The original score is perhaps one of the most influential scores of all time.

Blade Runner 2049 team had originally hired critically-aclaimed Icelandic composer Jóhann Jòhannsson to create the score. We, the fans, were thrilled. Only an artist of the caliber of Jóhannsson could possibly create something at the level of Vangelis' masterpiece.

Just a month prior to the film release date, it was announced Jóhannsson and his team had been replaced, and now Hollywood's favorite generic composer Hans Zimmer would be creating the score.

We the fans feared this was a huge misstep, as Hans Zimmer's music couldn't be further away from the aesthetic of both Vangelis, and Jóhannsson's work.

As expected (and feared), the score created by Zimmer is not only an atrocity exhibition, but it's at best the worst clichés associated with his notoriously bombastic work. It sounds like every Zimmer meme ever created, played at once. it is a hot mess filled with unaltered VST plug-in presets, and "cinematic ambient" sounds.

Thus we respectfully demand the producers of this film, the companies backing it financially, to let us, the fans, HEAR the score created by Jòhann Jóhannsson and his team. The only score we believe will do justice to the legacy of Vangelis.

We deserved better. RELEASE the score. The true score.
