Maintain the Columbia County School A/B Schedule Through Spring

We are in the middle of a pandemic and entering flu season. While our County has done an outstanding job of trying to keep students, teachers, and families safe, I just learned of a petition by some Columbia County residents to bring back full time school for all students. While I have chosen to send my students to school on the A/B schedule with the promise of increased cleanliness and safety, I believe it is truly reckless for the County to consider the full time petition that is circulating.  Please join me in expressing an alternate opinion to the school board, school administrators, and County leadership...”normalcy” is important, but not at the expense of health or safety. Our lives and our health, and those of our loved ones, are not worth it.  We all know that the pandemic is getting “old”, and as my 16 year-old will tell anyone who will listen, “we are so over Covid,” but Covid is not done with us yet. Let parents make the decision whether to have students become Learn from Home or stay with the A/B model. Join me in telling our County and school leadership that we still need to be cautious and the A/B schedule seems to be doing a good job at this.  Keep it up and be patient. We are not out of the woods yet.
