violent crime victims may evoke the right to a speedy trial

When a defendant waives their right to a speedy trial in a violent crime, the victim should have the option to then evoke that right.
- The perpetrators draw out the trial times exhausting the victims drawing out their trauma, typically causing the victim to leave, withdrawal, etc..
- Perpetrators find ways to lengthen trial dates (costing tax payers) while finding ways to manipulate laws.
- Often times, these hiatuses are used to find dirt on the victim & turn the trial away from the real crime. While, unfortunately.. the victim isn't getting any closure or an opportunity to heal.
A typical criminal (especially a violent criminal) is a repeat offender. Waiving the right to a speedy trial is an old trick. I am the victim of a violent crime. The man who assaulted me, is a violent criminal. He has gotten off of at least 3 trials *that I know of* (including mine) ... by waiving his right to a speedy trial & manipulation of the trial process. When I saw him in a parking lot the other day, it shook me to the core. I thought to myself "how can he be free?" ... I googled his name and found alarming results! Looking at my beautiful teenage daughters & knowing how their lives have suffered from my trauma breaks my heart. But, I am not capable of letting them go! Especially now!! If I had been able to go to court, testify and move on with my life- things may be different now. I will never know.
