Temporarily allow beer and wine delivery by restaurants and breweries.

The rapid spread of COVID19 has had a devastating impact on local restaurants, bars, and breweries and has forced us to make some hard decisions when it comes to our teams. A large portion of our local economy is dependent on members of the hospitality industry continuing to receive some income during this crisis.

Recently, Texas Governor Greg Abbott issued a waiver to allow restaurants in Texas to deliver beer, wine, and mixed drinks while their dining rooms are closed due to the Coronavirus. We believe Colorado should adopt a similar measure in response to the financial hardship that has disproportionately affected the hospitality industry.

In addition to alleviating some of the pressure facing our industry, we believe this would contribute to the public health goal of social distancing and self quarantine. If a person wants to have a drink to wind down during this high stress time, they would now have a choice other than going out to a convenience store.

While this proposal would not solve all the problems currently facing our industry, we do believe it's a practical measure to help local restaurants, bars, and breweries survive through this trying time. We hope you seriously consider a temporary waiver to allow restaurants to deliver and provide contact free carry out orders of beer, wine, and mixed drinks.
