There are very few crosswalks on 47th Ave between Havana st and Peoria st. There are zero stop signs or yield to pedestrians signs. It is very difficult to see anything in the dark. A change needs to be made.

I found myself jumping out of my car to stop traffic so an elderly woman with a walker could cross the street. She was waiting for about five minutes that I witnessed. I wonder how long she would've been there if I did not help. She was standing at a crosswalk and that did not hold enough merit for traffic to yield. Traffic kept going as if she was a ghost. As I was walking her across the street she called me an angel and at that moment I knew how important the safety of our pedestrians is.

As a daughter of a beautiful woman who lost her life well walking across a street, I feel like it's my calling to have a voice in pedestrian safety.

As a community we need to ensure our streets are safe. A simple stop sign will give pedestrians a better opportunity in making it to their destination safely.
