To be a successful member of the community, the ability to clearly communicate with others is absolutely vital! With the rise of technology and social media, we have seen a decrease in face-to-face interactions, and along with this, a decrease in interpersonal communication skills. Adversely, many studies have found that an increased usage of social medias can lead to social anxiety within it's users. In order to combat these issues, adding a mandatory interpersonal communications course for k-12 students can teach youth how to cope within our online world. To get a course added to Colorado Public Schools, we must show the Colorado Department of Education both the want and need for an Interpersonal Communication class.

Creating and maintaining healthy relationships increase our mental, emotional, AND physical health. By teaching students how to form these relationships starting at a young age, we are setting them up for success and a happy, healthy life. As they are transitioned out of school and into the adult world, students who have been educated on communication will become beneficial members of our community, and overall improve the society that we live in. Adding an interpersonal communication course to the curriculum for our youth will end up rewarding us all, not just our students. If you want to see our community thrive and continue to progress to a better world, please, sign this petition.
