Hannah Roberts started this petition to Colorado Attorney General's Office

Twenty years ago, I was a teenager living in Littleton, Colorado. Tragedy struck our community as a school shooting took place at Columbine Senior High School. The devastating pain and sadness are still a clear memory for me. Twenty years later, I have children of my own, who are students of the Cherry Creek School District. I would have never guessed that school shootings would become something that happens, or the threat of happens, on a frequent basis. I now recognize this is as common threat, and I choose to no longer wait powerlessly for something to change. We cannot eradicate the problem entirely but I do feel that metal detectors at all schools would lessen the occurrence of these tragedies. The average cost of a walk through metal detector is $2,123.55. This seems like a small price to pay for help our kids safety at school.
