Coloradans of Faith: Ask Bishop Isern to Put People Before Politics
The Catholic bishops' anti-poverty foundation is threatening to de-fund Compañeros, a leading immigrant rights organization providing vital services throughout the Diocese of Pueblo. The organization has not done anything to go against Church teaching. Compañeros is being denied funding simply for belonging to a state-wide immigrant rights coalition that opposes discrimination, including discrimination against members of the LGBT community. They are being defunded due to "guilt by association" and in turn, the immigrant community, one that is so vital to the Church, is being hurt.
Please add your name to a sign on letter that will be delivered to Bishop Isern.
- Bishop Fernando Isern
As Catholics and people of faith from Colorado, we ask that you find it in your heart to restore funding to Compañeros, an immigrants rights organization in Durango.
Concern for our immigrant brothers and sisters should always come before politics.
