University of Colombo has had distinguished and respected individuals appointed as the Chancellor since its inception as the Ceylon University.

The latest appointment of Ven Muruththettuwe Ananda thero who is well known as a leader of a trade union in health sector is not in the same league as the previous Chancellors who brought class, respect and grace to the renowned institution.

We urge the president to reverse the appointment and appoint a suitable person.
