Pledge to stop the overuse of single use water bottles. Every year around 8 million tons of plastic enter the oceans and single use water bottles are one of the main offender. Out of all the plastic bottles purchase 70% are not properly recycled. All of those misused water bottles end up in the oceans or landfills and can be found nearly everywhere in the form of microplastics. One bottle can take up to 1,000 years to full decompose. As a result of poor disposal of single use plastic water bottles nearly 700 species of marine animals are facing extinction.

Plastic bottles are very convenient and are available almost everywhere. The average consumer spends $100 annually on single use plastic water bottles. There are great alternative to single use bottles; Hydro Flasks, mason jars, Nalgene bottles, and even boxed water. Most of the alternatives listed are fairly affordable.
