College strike breach of contract should allow for class action lawsuit

The College Employer Council, OPSEU and Hon. Deborah Matthews (her failure to act) should be held accountable for the breach of contract caused by the province-wide college strike. Students entered college this year in good faith that they would be completing their semester. Students have rented accomodations to attend these courses. If students had known about the threat of a strike before the semester began, they could have had the opportunity to make an informed decision about whether to attend this year. As such, many students left employment to attend and are now out of work, out of school and paying rent to live in proximity to the college no longer offering classes. Since no new talks are scheduled, going into this third week of the strike, students should be able to have a recourse for their lost income, rent and semester.
