Over the past several years, College Station has seen tremendous growth.  We have become a destination for growing families by offering great schools, a central location, and Texas A&M University.  As a result, our infrastructure and amenities need to grow as well – and the city has done a great job with this in many ways.  However, we still have a major need that has not grown with our community. That need is Baseball Fields.

   College Station currently has two baseball fields; Brian Bachmann Park built in 1984 is located on Rock Prairie Rd and Wayne Smith Park built in 1956 is located on Holleman Drive. Bachmann has 6 fields with 4 of them serving ages 7 to 13 and 2 larger fields serving ages 13-16. Wayne-Smith has 3 fields for kids ranging in age from 7 to 13. All of these fields are used by community residents, CS Little League, and travel ball programs. There are also 6 tee ball fields for the little ones; 2 at Wayne Smith and 4 at Bachmann. Both parks have limited bathroom facilities, concessions and parking.

   As of the 2022 Spring season, CSLL had over 1000 kids register to play baseball! This is awesome! Unfortunately we had to turn many kids away due to the limitations of our current facilities. The bulk of the kids are in the 7 to 13 age range – with only 7 fields to serve them. The next largest group or kids are the youngsters and they have 5 fields. Factor in the facilities and parking and you can see that this is a logistical challenge. All the Little League practices and games are done in 4 nights a week! The leadership of College Station Little League has done an amazing job to manage all of this, but it just isn’t enough.

Folks we need additional fields, more parking, newer concession stands and safer restrooms. We need our City Council to approve three projects for the 2022 Bond Election: 1) Texas Independence Ballpark 2) Bachmann Little League Building and 3) Bachmann Senior League Building.  We need this for our kids and our community!  Please sign this petition below to help make it happen.
