Julianna Hernandez started this petition to College of Engineering Computer Science & Technology at Cal State LA

Less than 10% of students pursuing an engineering degree are Black and Brown. With 58.8% of the school's population belonging to the Black & Brown demographics and the majority of the engineering college being Black and Brown, there is still not enough support. Students are forced into spending more money and time to graduate with a B.S. due to not having enough major requirement class sections being offered, which delays their graduation. That average engineering student takes at least 5-6 years to graduate with a Bachelor's, rather than the expected 4 years, but are not offered the support required to succeed. We are petitioning for an increase in major requirement class sections and for a space where Black & Brown students can have support, tutoring, and mentoring from Black and Brown professors and industry professionals to further motivate and help students graduate with their Bachelor's in 4 years. So please join us in advocating in support for Black & Brown Engineering students.
