Here at the College of DuPage, and around the country, religious dietary restrictions are frequently ignored often at the expense of courteous and dutiful religious communities, and their representative students, who pay their taxes to support local academic establishments. Studying at college can be a very stressful endeavor, and requires nourishment which can be found in many on-campus cafeterias. However, what do you do when you cannot find any food, but do not wish to betray your spiritual commitments? For example, many American colleges do not offer any Halal food options for the growing Muslim-American population. As a country who wishes to attract talent from across the world, it is essential that we establish a mutually beneficial relationship and cater to the essential needs of a diverse constituency.

Here at change.org, we are creating a petition to demand that schools put more conscious effort into having considerate and mindful menus that nourish the Religious and Spiritual life of their students.

Our plan is to bring change to the College of DuPage, a leading community college in the Chicago-land area, with hopes of establishing a template for reform on the national level on behalf of all religious communities!
