Stop the Mask Mandate at the College of Charleston

Stop the Mask Mandate at the College of Charleston
As a community that is trying to come back together and socialize with one another, we want to be able to do so without limits. The majority of our campus is vaccinated, and we've all done our part to play a role in helping our community over the past two years. It's time to let young adults who have so much ahead of them socialize without masks and learn through body language and facial expression the way that we used to. We are always at a risk, but with everyone being vaccinated and so few cases as it is, we reserve the right to choose for ourselves whether we wear a mask around campus and in classes or not. There is absolutely no logical reason for this anymore, yet a hundred logical reasons not to mandate something like this. As it is, you can peer into any classroom and see that people already don't take this mandate seriously, which makes it a waste of time and a waste of stress, not to mention the thousands of tons of plastic everyone is wasting trying to come to class prepared. Socializing is important. Learning is important. It is long overdue that you allow the young adults who pay to be a part of this institution to make their own decisions regarding a mask. End the mask mandate.
