Revoke the decision of the College of Charleston canceling the UK study abroad
Why this petition matters
For 7 weeks a group of student have been learning, reading, and watching curriculum about the culture of England and especially the soccer culture of England. The College of Charleston announced "All College-sponsored international travel for faculty, staff, students and incoming visitors who have not yet departed has been cancelled for the remainder of the spring 2020 semester. Exceptions to this institutional directive will be handled case by case, and an exemption must be approved by the appropriate division head in coordination with the President’s Office." However the UK has been stated as a Level 1 caution for travel. With the flights and hotels having been booked, all students were excited and ready to go to London, Leeds, and Manchester. All students knew the risk they were taking by going overseas to the UK, however no one seemed the slightest bit concerned, not even the sponsor of this study abroad program. As of March 8th, 2020 there has been 366 confirmed cases and 3 deaths from the coronavirus in the United Kingdom, and 537 confrimed cases and 22 deaths in the United States.
