The SATs,ACTs, and PSATs are unfair! Stop taking them now!
Why this petition matters

The SAT was created in 1920 by a eugenicist named Carl Brigham. Brigham believed that some races had traits that were superior to those of other races. As such, the SAT was created to reinforce the belief that Jewish people, mediterranean people, and people of color were less intelligent than white people. He termed them as “feeble-minded” and made techniques to target the aforementioned nationalities. After creation, the SAT inspired other tests such as the ACT and PSAT, which also carry on these traits. These tests display a large gap of scores between students who are Asian and White verses those who are Latino and Black, which directly correlate to Brigham’s ideology’s efforts. The original intent to create these tests are working, and as a result, segregating races. Not only is it affected by race, but it is affected by income: it costs almost $100 to take these test and most students have to pay themselves. Not all students can take these tests due to low income, in which testing is required to be accepted into most colleges. Overall, getting rid of these Collegeboard tests will not only relieve systemic racism and discrimination between incomes, but it will also improve students’ mental health by taking these tests off their busy schedules.
