Testing overuse and misuse is damaging public education. It eats up classroom time, narrows curriculum and drives many students out of school. It perpetuates a false narrative of failure and puts schools in low-income communities at risk of closure or privatization (FairTest).
Also, it is an inaccurate way to test a student's success in college, or ability to handle a more rigorous environment because it does not test a student's critical thinking process, instead it tests their ability to guess the right answer.
To ensure a better method of determining a student's potential readiness for college, analyzing their critical thinking and problem solving skills is the most reasonable way to identify whether a student is clearly educated. A better method to this issue, is to use a similar test system as the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC).
