We the students demand that, due to the reasons outlined below, College Board must:

  1. Cancel the current digital exam policy of being unable to return to previous questions.
  2. Make all tests open note and ensure that tests cover content found in accessible study materials.
  3. Cancel all AP test fees this year, including refunding those already charged.

Millions of young people across the country have struggled, lost loved ones, and otherwise had their lives turned upside down due to the Coronavirus pandemic. It is indefensible to expect students who have gone through so much, and have been put in an environment that is completely antithetical to learning, to be able to perform at the same level they did in previous years. The students of America therefore put forward the following demands:

  • Whereas classes in online school meet substantially less than in-person classes and are unable to cover the content of a full in-person year.
  • Whereas impacts of online-school exacerbate existing disproportionate difficulty on BIPOC students, low-income students, and students in difficult family situations.
  • Whereas the COVID-19 pandemic has worsened economic difficulty and created immense barriers towards success and quality of living around the country.
  • Whereas students are not responsible for the impacts of COVID-19, but are victims of it and the impediments it has caused to our education.
  • Whereas the College Board’s existing digital test guidelines are restrictive and ignorant of current learning conditions; specifying that tests will “not include questions that can be answered with internet searches, textbooks, notes, study guides, or similar material,” renders it impossible for students to prepare for any material they will be tested on.
