Don't Go To Manila, Coldplay

Human Rights Watch recently described the situation in the Philippines as a "human rights calamity." In the past eight months, close to 8,000 people; mostly poor, young men, were killed without due process on mere suspicion of being drug-users. The Philippine government has vowed to carry-on with this policy despite the criticisms from cause oriented organizations like HRW and Amnesty International. It has also taken action to stifle any criticism and dissent against their activities. A prominent critic has already been jailed based on silly charges.
In 2003, you contributed to an AI campaign to raise awareness for human rights. Amnesty International: Music for Human Rights was a worthwhile project that helped in promoting the concept of universal human rights. Unfortunately, this is still alien to a large majority of Filipinos. Millions still believe that the cull being perpetrated by the government is actually a good thing.
I am therefore asking you to consider postponing your April 4, 2017 visit to Manila for your A Head Full Of Dreams Tour. I ask you to make a stand against this evil that is currently terrorizing entire communities. More people will be killed! And, that is a fact. Join us in our fight for what is right, Coldplay. Say no to Manila... for now. We'll see each other after 2022.
