Having nearly be hit on several occasions by drivers not exercising good judgement going into the bend, it is maybe prudent in the interest of all road users of this area, for the council to look at making this road safer. The bend is one of a "hairpin" and indeed presents a hazard to drivers as much of the road is taken up with double parked vehicles. A one way system would benefit all road users and reduce the likelihood of collision. All that would be required is a no entry sign at the start of Charles Street at the Kendall Road junction and "One Way" markers at the junction of Winnock Road and Charles Street. If the expense is deemed too much, then at least let us have a "convex mirror" installed so that drivers are aware of approaching vehicles.
By addressing this issue, the likelihood of incidents would be reduced, culminating in a safer traffic environment, which essentially will benefit all users of this particular stretch of road in New Town Colchester. Ergo, if drivers cannot be relied upon to exercise good judgement and hazard perception, then the only way forward in the interest of road safety, is to have physical controls in place by way of signage and restriction.
