Sandy Beach Infrastructure and Development Concept Planning
Sandy Beach Infrastructure and Development Concept Planning

As friends of Sandy Beach, we have the following concerns about the lack of transparent community consultation in designing the plan for Sandy Beach Reserve. We believe funding for the Sandy Beach Reserve development should address the following important issues to benefit the entire community.
CONCERNS
Community Safety and Wellbeing
Our unique natural beachside landscape needs to be valued and protected. We concur with the Masterplan’s vision of balancing community needs whilst allowing for the growing and changing population in the area. Therefore, it essential that there are adequate green spaces, car parking areas, bins, footpaths and safe beach accesses.
The skate park and half basketball court/multipurpose hard surface
The “Youth Focus Grant” from the State Government must focus on the recreational surfing and beach culture of Sandy Beach. Therefore, investment must prioritise showers, safe beach access and adequate car parking.
We believe the location of the proposed skate park would benefit the community’s safety and wellbeing away from the residential area.
This allocated area does not align with the 2017 Masterplan’s vision to ‘enhance the beachside landscapes that celebrates the natural beauty of the coast.’
We request the above concerns to be addressed before any development begins.
