Coffs Harbour City Council has half of it's council of 8 having opposing views as to a proposal to issue a long-term lease over it's profitable regional airport.

Due to the 4 all voting results our Mayor uses her chair's casting vote.

All indications point to a strong majority not wanting it leased for the long term AND wanting to be provided with information about details to let them make informed decisions as to what to lobby our Councillors to do so as for them to be representing us

I will be speaking in the Public Forum at the extraordinary meeting tomorrow - Wed 2nd Dec - and will be putting my first 2 preferences to the Council.

Those being: 1) don't lease it out at all and seek out a suitably experienced, capable manager - with CoVID-19 impacts there should be a good candidate pool.  2) lease it out for 10 years max. IE offer tenderers a 5 yr, with option for a further 5 yrs, lease.

Further I will be beseeching our Councillors to revise the standing practice of keeping documents as being "CONFIDENTIAL" long after the need for such handling has ceased.
