Monroe County has a population of roughly 36,000 people. District 1 has roughly 7,000 people. Can you imagine the amount of trash taken to the only landfill available to Monroe County on any given day? What about holidays? Just think of all of the one-use items (i.e. utensils, food prep dishes, present boxes, wrapping paper, etc.). There needs to be something else available to the people of Monroe County so we can preserve our woodlands and stop filling it with garbage that could potentially be reused or repurposed. How long will the county landfill last before another plot needs to be stripped of it’s 100 year old vegetation? Are you interested in recycling?
