Overturning Roe v. Wade, a court case ruling that secured bodily autonomy for people with uteruses in the United States, will leave the right to abortion in the hands of the state. Outlawing abortion will not prevent people from getting them, it will only make them more dangerous as people resort to backstreet methods such as coat hanger abortions. We need to pressure President Joe Biden in addition to members of our Congress if we want to continue to enjoy the civil liberties that we experience today. If we lose, infant mortality rate will go up, mothers will die, the price of contraception will skyrocket, and children who are raped will be forced to carry a pregnancy to term. The war on abortion has never been about saving lives and has always been about taking away privacy from American citizens. If we can pressure our senators, congress members, and other leaders of our nation, we have a shot at securing reproductive rights for the masses. The wealthy elites of this country will continue to get abortions, as they have the means to travel abroad to have these medical procedures performed.
