Ban Plastic Bottle Production

We are drowning in plastic, and it's unnecessary.
Humans buy over 1,000,000 plastic bottles per minute in total.
Americans throw away 35 billion plastic bottles every year, with only about 23% of plastic bottles are recycled within the U.S.
Every year, 8 million metric tons of plastics enter our ocean, adding to the estimated 150 million metric tons that have already accumulated in the Oceans worldwide.
We also talk about Plastics breaking down like it's a goods thing, but that is when things get even worse. Once the bottle breaks down it chips into microplastics, spreading toxins throughout wildlife and human bloodstreams.
All plastic ever made is still on earth, and recently a study found toxic microplastics in every fish and human sampled.
Plastic bottles comprise a majority of plastic trash, and to eliminate it altogether is the only way to prevent further plastic poisoning of our fish, water, and ourselves.
Plastic bottles are unnecessary, and the companies that produce them are not responsible for managing the plastic trash that is left, leaving consumers stuck with the cost, environmentally or healthwise. The manufacturers have refused to take responsibility, and have turned our oceans, parks, and health into a plastic dumping ground of toxicity.
The toxins used to create plastics often end up broken down in microplastics, which are poisoning us and the world around us. We have seen documented cases over and over of plastic trash killing wildlife and destroying natural lands, and we have seen toxins causing birth defects, cancers, and other health-related issues, and as we get sicker the companies making these plastic bottles are the wealthiest in the world. Their profit is on the backs of our children and the world's health.
Since they cannot act responsibly and have left us a world of plastic to deal with on our own through beach cleanups and community activism, this petition requests they either offer glass bottle alternatives or stop plastic bottles altogether until they can find a more environmentally responsible way to manufacture.
We had a perfectly good zero waste system already in place 70 years ago with glass bottles and glass bottle recycling. It was a zero-waste program and caused no damage to the environment or additional toxins like plastic does. We didn't need it back then, and don't need it now.
Recently San Fransisco banned water bottles at their airports, removing a huge chunk of pollution from a day to day operation. Many countries around the world have started to ban all plastic production, and each has reduced its global pollution in the process.
Our water connects us all, but it also combines our plastics into huge garbage patch gyres and littered shorelines across the globe.
We can and must stop plastic bottle production if our planet or water stands any chance of surviving.
It's an easy solution to an out of control problem, as we already have too much plastic and do not need to continually compound the problem.
