As a MiguelAngel myself, I was excited to see a Miguel taking center stage on such a well rounded and written story. Like Miguel Diaz, I was raised by immigrants fleeing danger and violence in their hometowns. Cameron Diaz's backstory plays out similarly to the same stories my aunts and uncles would tell at family gatherings. The real tales of loss, sacrifice and a difficult voyage away from everything you know to build yourself from the ground up. The kind of stories that end in the same principles that your Miguel's father figure tries to teach him. The principles of perseverance, focus, and commitment growth.

I was taught that if you want to create a better scenario for yourself and the people around you, then you have to get up on your feet everyday and work hard towards that, against how much it all hurts. I watch your show and I see the MiguelAngel that tore his meniscus training with ankle weights and walked it off.

The problem I'm having is that during scenes that are supposed to carry emotional weight, I'm shaken awake to the fact that I'm watching Vanessa Rubio repeating a script for camera's everytime she refers to Xolo Maridueña as "Miggy." As an immigrant from Ecuador, she should have grown up around nicknames like Migue and Miki. I grew up around immigrants and friends that all called me Migue. Although Miggy might be a common nickname around children raised in America, no immigrant mothers I know have ever steered away from the traditional nicknames. It's a small change, that would really make it easier to stay immersed in the story, and that I'm sure would be appreciated by all the Migue's watching the show. Thank you.
