Make public schools return to digital learning until the pandemic is actually over

Many students within Cobb County schools are excited to return to a normal learning environment this school year. However, things cannot be considered “normal” just yet. The all too familiar COVID-19 is still very present within our community, with 1,831 cases reported from the county within the last 2 weeks alone.

Although lots people within our community are vaccinated, there are still many others who are still not vaccinated yet and are at risk of contracting the virus.
As a high school student myself, I have personal experience with the crowded hallways during class transitions and classes with 30+ students in them. This type of environment is perfect for the spread of a highly contagious, airborne virus.
I urge you to reconsider making all public schools within the county return to in-person learning. As long as COVID-19 is still present within the state of Georgia, things cannot return to how it was before the pandemic without the risk of hospitalization and possibly death. To keep our community as safe as possible during this pandemic, I again encourage you to return public schools to a digital learning environment until this pandemic is over. Thank you very much for your time. :)
