Issue the Cobb 2008 Parks Bond Funds Nov 8th

Please issue the 2008 Parks Bond January 2017 and approve a Parks SPLOST for the March election

The Finance Agenda Item on Tuesday's Nov 8th Board of Commissioners Meeting includes a motion to finally  issue the ($40 million) 2008 Cobb Parks Bond for purchase of green space.  It was a referendum approved by 65% of Cobb County voters in 2008 and was delayed due to the recession.  The recession is over.  It is now being delayed by some on the Cobb County Commission who don't support public funding of green space.

A list of 13 properties recommended by the appointed (citizen) Recreation Board was leaked to the press last week.  It is not the final list.  The Commissioners can approve the final list.  Chairman Tim Lee will not vote to release the funds. Commissioner Bob Ott may not vote to release the funds.  Commissioner Birrell is leading the effort to fulfill the voter mandate to purchase green space and we believe that Commissioner Cupid supports it as well.  We do not know if Commissioner Weatherford will support the motion although he has publicly stated that he does support issuing the remaining, available $24.7 million.

The clock is ticking.  This may be Cobb's last, best chance to acquire green space.

Please sign the petition urging the Commissioners to vote to issue the Parks Bond funds on Tuesday, Nov, 8th.  It is another very important vote to make on Election Day.

Don't let the Cobb County Commission be the Grinch that Stole Green Space from the citizens who voted to approve it.
