Open Cobb Parks
Open Cobb Parks
We are the citizens and taxpayers of Cobb County Georgia.
We have observed the local, then state “lockdowns” of our business and lives.
Now that the general “shelter in place” order issued by the Governor of Georgia has been lifted, we demand the opening of our parks, fields and school amenities, all funded by our tax dollars.
Most citizens of Cobb County do not have COVID-19. With a population of 790588 there are 1660 cases, .02% of our population as of May 1, 2020.
The complete closure of parks appears to be based purely on anecdote and without any data or health science to support that decision.
- Sunlight helps boost a serotonin in your brain giving you more energy and assists many of the human systems to keep them healthy.
- DHS stated, “Our most striking observation to date is the powerful effect that solar light appears to have on killing the virus—both surfaces and in the air.”
- The average daily temperature in Georgia in May is 80°, with the sun shining from 9.8 to 10.6 hours.
- Exercise benefits our health, immune system and mood.
- The CDC admits that children do not appear to be at higher risk of contracting COVID-19.
- Outdoor transmission appears to be rare.
The citizens of Cobb County are intelligent and can make decisions in their best interest. Citizens who want to stay home can stay home, but those of us that want our children to play outdoors with their friends and participate in sports should also be able to make that decision.
