The Executive Board has failed to represent its members, allowing Mayor Deblasio to paint a false narrative that we have caused the breakdown of Rikers island. The Executive Board led by President Boscio has knowingly and willingly refused to challenge what we believe is criminal negligence on Mayor Deblasio’s part. The Executive Board lack of representation is a clear violation of the bylaws Article II Purpose of the Association
The objectives and purposes of the Association shall be:
a. To organize and represent all persons performing the duties of Correction Officer under the jurisdiction of the New york City department of Correction;
b.To assist its members in obtaining due recognition and appropriate compensation for their professional work as Correction Officers and in improving the conditions under which they work;
c. To promote the social welfare of its members;
d. To foster advancement of the professional skills of its members as Correction Officers;
e. To uphold the highest standards and best traditions of the Correction service;
f. To undertake all efforts not inconsistent with law to further the mutual interests of Correction Officers and their organizations, wherever located.
