Far too often, deaths related to drugs laced with fentanyl , are classified as overdoses . When a person unknowingly ingests a substance while under the guise of it being something else, that person was poisoned . Regardless to how people feel about drug users, their death shouldn’t be labeled as something due to their own recklessness when in reality, they never requested what actually killed them . We’ve seen this play out in recent history with the deaths of actor/activist Michael K Williams , comedian Fuquan Johnson, rapper Mac Miller and others . I’ve often seen crack dealers called murderers by the general public and press alike . But, somehow, finding out who’s responsible for the “serial spikings” isn’t that important . I’ll leave everyone else to speculate the why . I just care that news outlets stop getting to decide that the contents of someone’s home is the thing to discuss in their untimely demise . That commentators don’t get to paint narratives of people who were working to make a difference , just because they were imperfect while they were here . If their demons were private in life then they should be allowed to remain the same in transition. Especially when those demons harmed no one but the person who faced them . These deaths are murder . These people were poisoned . Plain and simple .
