We, the undersigned citizens and residents of The Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, petition for the enactment of H.B. 22-87, known as the CNMI Equality Act, Åktun Achá-Parehu, or Alléghúl Awecwcppagh of 2021.

After reading the bill, I understand and agree that lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (“LGBTQ”) people have been discriminated against, and support this bill in explicitly prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity in the CNMI.

This bill acknowledges how the indigenous traditions of the pacific valued and revered gender variance, and underscores the people of the CNMI, Marianas, and Oceania as unified in our love, tolerance, and respect for ALL who are good stewards of our islands.

I recognize and support the added responsibility of protecting LGBTQ people in housing, employment, athletic endeavors, juror responsibility, and the other areas referenced in H.B. 22-87.

We, the undersigned citizens and residents of The Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, petition for the enactment of H.B. 22-86.

After reading the bill, I understand and agree that transgender people in the CNMI face significant barriers to living authentically and honestly as themselves. Removing the burdensome requirements to altering one’s gender designation serves countless benefits, including bringing the laws of the CNMI into alignment with current scientific and cultural understanding of transgender identities, easing the mental strain imposed on transgender people who cannot currently legally exist as themselves, and will make the CNMI a leader in Micronesia for LGBTQ people, specifically Transgender people.

The amendments acknowledge and seek to address unfair, unjust, and arbitrary qualifications for transgender people to freely exist as themselves, burdens which are not imposed on people who are not transgender.

BY SIGNING BELOW, I ACKNOWLEDGE MY SUPPORT FOR H.B. 22-86 AND CONSENT TO THE SUBMISSION OF THIS RECORD TO THE LEGISLATURE AS EVIDENCE FOR MY SUPPORT OF H.B. 22-86
