Parking services is an antiquated enforcement system used solely to punish those who aren't willing to pay the almost $200 parking pass fee. Those who do pay this ridiculous fee often find themselves circling overflowing lots with no place to park in nearby lots, forcing them to reroute to farther lots, making them late to class. How are students supposed to go to their classes when there are no viable parking options nearby? Disabled students without handicap passes are left out. Poor students already struggling to get by pushing themselves past their limit to walk an extra 20 minutes to class in the dead of winter. Students need accessible, easy, and affordable transportation options on campus. Asking them to pay for this parking pass along with increasing class prices is absurd. 

There are other options CMU hasn't pursued in order to both lessen vehicle congestion on campus and offer students desperately needed travel options. Instead of investing even more money into an already inequitable and archaic system, eliminate parking services and look into newer technologies to update our campus to keep up with colleges around the state.
