At the high school level, performance enhancing drugs are more prevalent than many people think. According to the FDA, around 8 percent of high school athletes have reported using some kind of steroid, with anabolic steroids being the most common. This is an increase from 5 percent just 10 years ago. These steroids can harm the athlete and cause health problems that can last a lifetime. For this reason, performance-enhancing drugs should be completely banned from all sports to protect both the athletes taking the drugs as well as the overall integrity and fairness of athletic competitions. This petition will be sent to the CMS athletic department to push for a complete ban of all steroids in high school sports.
