Good News - The Sydney City Council has not raided the Sydney 24/7 Street Kitchen Safe Space in 3 months.
The Sydney 24/7 Street Kitchen Safe Space is a grass-roots organization supported and funded by the caring public. Started for the safety of vulnerable Homeless people - ranging from women to hospital patients, it now provides an around the clock Safe Space for Homeless to gather, sleep safely and have food when they are hungry.
By refraining from the dismantling and dispossession of Homeless person's belongings the Sydney Council has allowed the nurturing of this Homeless Community, allowing Homeless to organize to help themselves and find their own feet.
Possibly as part of their commitment to supporting the Sydney homeless this act has allowed multiple service providers to aid the local crisis and established a vibrant Homeless Services and Community at Martin Place.
With Community support, Council support and support from independent bodies this can be unstoppable progress!
In fear of a potential reversion on their efforts and a re-commencement of raids we ask that you sign this petition to show that you support protecting the Homeless and working towards ending homelessness together!
Desired outcomes: Sydney City Council to agree to
1. A banning of raids on the Homeless Community at Martin Place (because stealing from vulnerable people is wrong).
2. To commit to allowing the community to stay in Martin Place (because safety and support allow people to flourish).
Please sign to let the council know that you support them and the Homeless.
