Fix and replace Kings Cross/Potts Point public toilets. The only public toilets we have.

After 6 long years, the public toilets underneath the Kings Cross police station that is managed and operated by City of Sydney council are not working or acceptable amenities. There are many occasions where they've been inoperable for weeks. Today all toilets are in-operable despite calls to Council to fix. This means disabled, tourists, locals, people at the markets where the toilets are located and people during the by-election were unable to use public toilets in the entire Potts Point, Kings Cross and Elizabeth Bay locality.

In April 2018, CEO of City of Sydney, Monica Barone responded with the following announcements in an effort by Councillor Craig Chung, Kerryn Phelps and Christine Forster to have them fixed.

  1. Increasing cleaning from 5-8 times a day
  2. 3 security patrols each day to prevent vandalism to toilets
  3. By September all toilets were to be totally refurbished
  4. New disabled access

Here's another video by a local who has been campaigning since 2011 to have these toilets fixed.

Why does this need to happen now?

After years of inoperable toilets, the local community needs access to public toilets. the locality is Australia's 2nd largest density living, has a higher rate of homeless people and is a thriving community home to tens of thousands of people without the availability of public toilets.

Enough is enough. I call on the Lord Mayor, Clover Moore and City of Sydney to act now once and for all. We've been told we'd have new refurbished public toilets now and no contractors have come to refurbish them back to acceptable and new condition.

Why does the Council continue to neglect the community particularly on this issue? Please sign this petition so urgent action takes place now. Every community deserves access to working public toilets.
