Starting this school year San Diego High School changed its start time from 8:40 to 8:30, a 10 minute time difference may not seem like much, but when they started closing the gate at 8:25 or 8:30 on the dot is when it truly starts affecting students. Once the gate is closed, students have to wait in a long line outside of the school to get a tardy slip, causing them to be later than they actually are, which also causes them to miss class time, now if the gate closed at 9:00AM students getting there at 8:30 or 8:35 are not missing class time and aren’t considered late. As a senior this year I can’t afford to miss class and this change is deeply affecting that and I can’t just stand having it affect my time like this.
