In the ranking of 100 highest paid athletes, there is only one woman- Serena Williams.

For the US women's football team, their win in the 2015 World cup got them a $2m award (£1.5m), meanwhile the men received $35m (£26.5m).

The argument is that women do not get as much interest in their sports as men but this is because there is not as much media coverage of women playing sports- chicken and egg!

Women should not be seen as second class citizens in sports, close the gender pay gap.
