I have been a baton twirler for 34 years. The CHS Majorettes ha e been around for 50+ years. The team members are very dedicated and put their heart and soul into their performances. They are also a crowd favorite. There are several kids in the community that take baton lessons from myself and the teammates. For many this is the only activity they have. They don’t excel at the more popular sports. We have raised our own money since I was in school over 20 years ago. We end the year with a big recital. A lot of them have aspirations of joining the team. There was no reason given to me as to why the program was eliminated. They already eliminated cheerleading years ago. They are taking chances away from these young women. They have also kept the money raised last year. I would like the school itself to take over the Majorettes as it was 20+ years ago. We would continue to raise our own funds. The school would not be financially responsible at all. The kids enjoy watching the majorettes perform in our local parades. We would also be eligible to compete, which we find ourselves. This program is so important to many young girls not to mention the CHS Majorettes! Please let the activities dept at the high school take over the CHS Majorettes.
