Colchester Council Resignations

0 have signed. Let’s get to 500.

We the residents of Colchester Borough call for the immediate resignation of the Leader of the Council [Cllr. Paul Smith] and the Deputy Leader of the Council [Cllr. Tim Young] of Colchester Borough Council for the continued absence of strategic leadership required to manage and guide our council.

Tollgate Village
The successful Tollgate Village appeal and decision by the Secretary of State has shown a complete lack of vision and strategic leadership at the very top of our Borough Council.

The Council have already spent shy of £160,000 to defend plans against the £70m development by The Tollgate Partnership which would have created nearly 1000 jobs.

Tollgate Village had an 85% approval rating from residents - those same residents Colchester Council ignored.

Vineyard Gate

Since 2002, Colchester Council have promised residents a new development at Vineyard Gate. Almost 16 years later the development has gone nowhere.

Northern Gateway
Northern Gateway is the latest development by Colchester Council to almost make it, however news directly from Paul Smith, leader of the Council confirms there is a £10m shortfall.

Wheelie Bins
Colchester Council spent nearly £1m on wheelie bins to "reduce recycling" but failed to give them to everyone. Colchester Council could have saved us nearly £1m simply by introducing a limit on black bag collections.

Town Centre Parking
Parking in the town is another example of how Colchester Council have ignored pleas from residents and local retailers, to reduce the in-town parking fees for short stay shoppers and to work with Essex County Council to promote the Park and Ride scheme.

Nearly two years after the introduction of the pay and display system plaguing our run down Council run car parks, the system that's doesn't give change (collecting over £40,000 a year in over-payments), has seen its parking charges go up, not down! Parking visitors are fined for overstaying their welcome and Colchester Council refuse to promote the Park and Ride.

ENOUGH, NO MORE

We the residents of Colchester Borough call for the immediate resignation of the Leader of the Council [Cllr. Paul Smith] and the Deputy Leader of the Council [Cllr. Tim Young] of Colchester Borough Council for the continued absence of strategic leadership required to manage and guide our council.
