Why this petition matters

Started by Andrew Bowell
A recent news article has stated that the supermarket Aldi is looking to expand into Lincolnshire, and is looking for suitable sites
As the Gateway to South Kesteven, "The Deepings" is rapidly expanding, but only has the one supermarket, so a lot of people travel to other locations for their weekly shop.
An Aldi in The Deepings would benefit the area by:
- Providing competition and cheaper prices
As well as serving The Deepings it will attract people from surrounding villages, especially from those over the border in Cambridgeshire.
More people would stay in Deeping to shop
Shops, Restaurants, cafes and pubs in Deeping would benefit from the extra footfall
It would boost the local economy
It would provide job opportunities in Deeping
It would make Deeping a more attractive place to live and work
ALDI has a good reputation for community involvement.
The Deepings is a thriving community, and we are calling on the Councillors and Officers of South Kesteven Diistrict Council to campaign and work together to attract Aldi or a similar supermarket to the Deepings, so that the area does not become just a dormitory town for Peterborough.
Also in the future to ensure The Deepings receives a fairer share of retail and employment opportunities.
