Open Our Streets Southampton City Council/Balfour Beatty
Why this petition matters

Residents of Southampton in the Inner Avenue, Lodge Road, Avenue Road and Alma Road area have been cut off from the city with now only one major road in and out of this highly populated area.
The panic decision on 3 February 2020 to close four roads in addition to the Lodge Road closure was made by Balfour Beatty, an unelected private organisation, without any consultation with the local community. The closure will last for at least four weeks and it has created chaos for local residents and businesses, increasing journey times, pollution and the risk of accidents.
One of the local councillors, Jacqui Rayment, is responsible for roads in the city but she has refused to get involved and is referring the people who elected her to Balfour Beatty.
If you agree that our roads should be re-opened for local residents and no further closures should take place without consultation, sign this petition.
