Adrian Monnery started this petition to Cllr Don Davies and

From April 2021 North Somerset Council are introducing a £50 charge for green waste collection.
Whilst charges might need to be introduced, introducing them within the Covid-19 pandemic shows no empathy for people who, through no fault of their own, are financially struggling to make ends meet.  With council tax set to rise and the proposal for N-Somerset set to spend £9.5million on an arts centre in Nailsea, it really does beg to ask the question of whether the council actually have their priorities right.  For too long money has been spent in the wrong areas and council leaders have been paid upwards of £40,000 and in the case of the council leader £41,339 p/a and a bonus payment of £27,000.  It really does beg to ask the question of WHY when money is needing to be saved bonuses are being paid to elected personnel? Go further up the ladder to the Chief Executive and you are looking circa £135,000 plus bonuses.  This shows there is most definitely a problem of “feathering ones own nest” and “wasting taxpayers money” going on at North Somerset council and the result is fleecing the residents to enable that to continue.

If you really are in the council to make North Somerset’s residents lives better then please rethink the situation and if needed postpone it for 6-8 months and then re-evaluate the economic situation.
