A303 congestion is being blamed on Stonehenge itself!
"At the moment a single carriageway road passes within 165m of the World Heritage Site, leading to congestion as motorists slow to look" is a quote from 'New Civil Engineer' magazine, 13th November 2017
Congestion on local road networks will be eased when there is an integrated traffic management system in place, between the Countess Roundabout, which has traffic lights: and the Longbarrow Roundabout, where there are none, which causes severe congestion at peak times, with traffic backed-up in all directions.
This was put forward for action at a Public Inquiry in 2011; since when, very little effective action has happened to remedy the problem (£1.6 BILLION on a tunnel?)
