A Cheyenne & Arapaho family in Clinton said their fifth-grader was assaulted by two students when he was held down by one and had his long hair cut by another. “They pushed the door open and pushed him against the wall, threw him down, and held him down,” Lonebear said. “He (Dominique) said one held him down, the other one cut his hair and they took off running out,” Dominique said he was unable to get a look at the two students as he was being pinned face-first into the bathroom floor.

Dominique said he didn’t report it immediately, due to fears of retaliation.

Lonebear said the student cut several inches of hair off. In Native American culture, long hair is considered sacred. The attack is not only personal, but the Lonebear family is taking it as a cultural attack as well.

This is a hate crime by definition, against a 5th grader! Join me in demanding that Washington Elementary School find and expel the students that attacked Dominique Lonebear, and that the Clinton, OK Police Department hold the attackers accountable for committing a hate crime.
