Humans continue to emit greenhouse gases by burning fossil fuels at record levels. Therefore, Utah is warming twice as fast as the global rate. Due to this, Utah is not getting enough snow to fill Lake Powell, especially during the runoff season. Scientists say that Lake Powell might never fill again. This is jeopardizing the water-sharing agreements between states. The Lake Powell drought is not only hurting the environment and Utah's habitat but the 22 million people who use that water daily.
